Real Life Meeting Update part II
Well since a few of you contacted me to find out more on this I thought I would post about the things I didn't care for at the RLM.
First off, I know that being friends and all its our jobs to hassle each other. Its sort of a guy thing. Beating on your buddies and giving them a hard time is all just par for the coarse for most male friendships.
I however think this can be taken too far, and in a too personal manner. I am not naming any names but I thought that there was one person in our group that was way too active in his harassment of someone I consider a friend.
Other things... during the cook out after we all ate they brought out speakers and we started listening to a comedy CD. Now since there were kids there we all tried to watch what we said, however this CD was really foul mouthed. Not that I fucking care about that much... except for the children. The other thing was that the jokes were basically about rape. And I really never consider that funny.
The thing to top it all off was that with this playing... all conversation stopped. Everyone was 100% silent as we listened to the CD. I found this sort of sad and funny. I mean here we are, people came in from all over the eastern united states and we had found a way for all of us not to have to socialize. How typically geeky.
The last thing was how some people played know it all about how to play EverQuest. If you diviated from the proscribed coarse you were playing your character wrong. This gets old fast. Its a damn good thing there was beer there.
