More Politics...

Shining Dragon wrote:
To me, this implied that if you want to see a third party in the White House then you should vote for that person. Believing that, at this time, this will result in your preferred candidate getting there is somewhat naïve.

I am not supporting a third party. I never said I thought that voting for the person you think is best, even if its outside of the big two, had any chance of winning.

You assume to much.

People only want to back a winner. Its only natural. The current group think is "If I don't vote R or D then I am wasting my vote." This is not true. It is however true that in todays America you vote only has any chance of counting toward the winner if you vote either R or D.

My point is that we should not see things this way. Its one of those things that everyone has to think the same way, or at least play by the same rules for it to work. And we all know it never will, but I can dream I guess.

The idea is to vote for the person you feel is best for the office, and not to look at party. That could be for the Bush, that could be for Kerry. It could be for any third party person, or really any person that you feel would be the best person for the job.

It would require that people think for themselves, which I think we can agree, most can not. It would require that people be informed and honest about how they feel about who they are voting for. It require that people vote for the person they want to see in office and not for the person that will beat the person they DONT want to see in office.

I have no illusions that this will ever happen. I also have no illusions to whether my vote will put someone in the White House if I am voting for someone other then the R or D Canidate.

But its honest and its what I think is right. It will not be cast in fear, but out of hope.

So who would I vote for if the election was today? Well if I had to vote today, the person I think would be the best President is Edwards. So unless I find someone better that is who I will be casting my vote for.

Think thats silly? Think that is naïve? Well you are welcome to. Its my vote, its my voice.

Midnight Launch Party

I just found out about the Midnight Launch Party that White Wolf is throwing this year at GenCon. I didnt get to go last year but I won't miss out again. And I will bet with me working at the White Wolf booth this year I will be able to get in free. Well I don't know that for sure but I bet there is a good chance.

What a week!

I haven't wrote much this week mostly because I have been so busy here at work. Seems like lots has been going on and I am just slammed with this web project I am working on.

I have been in a grumpy mood all week. I have fought with co-workers over issues that were fairly stupid. I might blog on this when I have more time but damn it, he pissed me off.

Anyhow... This week was D&D. And even though we didn't get that deep into the adventure we were supposed to go on, we still had a really good time. I don't know what it is about fighting on a hex board but it really seems to punch up D&D combat. Anyhow its an adventure that carries over, its got some danger and some mystery in it, and it was a very fun night.

Now its Friday, the last day of the normal work week. Today we got some news back on the getting this house. Well the bank said we pre-qualify for the loan, and this is while we still own the condo. So it looks like we will start construction on our house soon. Now considering this news you would think that I would be more excited. The thing is, after the whole Mayor buying the house we were going to get and then the builders being buttheads over building a new one and all the other things that have happened... It just has not sunk in yet. Once they break ground then I will been excited. Until then however... I am in a state of disbelief.

Quintessential Temptress

Quintessential Temptress by Mongoose Publishing is probably not on my list of things to buy. However one of the guys in our gaming group should probably pick it up. He is always playing some slutty girl in game and this sounds perfect for him.

I am honestly surprised that anyone makes this book. I don't know if its a sign of the times or the new trend in gaming. Probably a little of both.

Real Life Meeting Update part III

Reyolle from Soul-Bound put together a little slide show to music showing off pictures from this years Real Life Meeting. I do not see any pictures from Dave and Busters however and I hear those were pretty interesting.

Butter Side Down

A friend of mine recently told me about his brothers band Night Eve. The cuts I listened to were fairly rough but they were not mastered at all. They do however sound like they have promise.

All this reminded me of a UD band called Butter Side Down. I only got to go to a few of their concerts but I loved to hear them live. I had one of their tapes for awhile but it wasn't mixed very well and didn't sound nearly as good as they did live.

Hmm looking that the Bands info now... It looks like they lost the female vocalist... Which is a shame. I really like it when I band has both.

I think I'm a clone now.

Well if you know me then you probably know that I have Bengal Cats. We got them from a breeder and like one might expect when dealing with a breeder they cost more then if you picked a kitten out from the local"Free Kittens to a good home." Anyhow the reason I brought this all up is because... They are now cloning my freaking cats. Now the question is... Will the price of a Bengal Cat go up or down now that they can just zerox one?

Somebody's Watching Me

Last gaming night there was some odd debate about who sang the chorus on Rockwell's "Somebody's Watching Me" Brent and I rightly claimed that it was Michael Jackson, however since we don't know everything there is to know about music like some people think they do... we were told we were wrong. :)

In your face bro!

Gen Con 2004

Hey Rob if you see this post... and I have no idea if you will, but Gen Con is from August 19th - 22nd. I will be going up on friday and spending friday night, and saturday night, returning on sunday.

I have a room by the airport and Bill is staying in the room already. As with everyone else, you are free to crash in my room. However I get a bed thats all I demand. I should be able to get a second key and I dont much care who gets it as long as its returned. As for getting back and forth from the room to the con... well thats up to you guys. I am driving.

I am sure we will talk about this before the con rolls around.

Real Life Meeting Update part II

Well since a few of you contacted me to find out more on this I thought I would post about the things I didn't care for at the RLM.

First off, I know that being friends and all its our jobs to hassle each other. Its sort of a guy thing. Beating on your buddies and giving them a hard time is all just par for the coarse for most male friendships.

I however think this can be taken too far, and in a too personal manner. I am not naming any names but I thought that there was one person in our group that was way too active in his harassment of someone I consider a friend.

Other things... during the cook out after we all ate they brought out speakers and we started listening to a comedy CD. Now since there were kids there we all tried to watch what we said, however this CD was really foul mouthed. Not that I fucking care about that much... except for the children. The other thing was that the jokes were basically about rape. And I really never consider that funny.

The thing to top it all off was that with this playing... all conversation stopped. Everyone was 100% silent as we listened to the CD. I found this sort of sad and funny. I mean here we are, people came in from all over the eastern united states and we had found a way for all of us not to have to socialize. How typically geeky.

The last thing was how some people played know it all about how to play EverQuest. If you diviated from the proscribed coarse you were playing your character wrong. This gets old fast. Its a damn good thing there was beer there.

Fanime Con

There are alot of flavors of geeks in this world, some good, some bad. However I just found a new type (well new to me) and I am not sure what to make of them. Yes, yes I know this is like the pot calling the kettle black... but hot damn! Anyway you check it out and you be the judge.
