Introducing Darth Kro Sover and Kosh Summers

In talking with my buddy about his current B5 game...

[03:53] mrruben51@hotmail.com: So who is the major bad guys?
[03:53] mrruben51@hotmail.com: Drahk?
[03:53] mrruben51@hotmail.com: Goa'uld ?
[03:54] Buss: heheheheh...bite thine tongue!
[03:54] mrruben51@hotmail.com: Maybe its the Sith Goa'uld.
[03:54] mrruben51@hotmail.com: I hear those bitches are hard to kill
[03:55] Buss: Sith Goa'Uld agents from the Matrix!
[03:55] mrruben51@hotmail.com: Darth Kro Sover
[03:56] Buss: ehrrmmm.....no
[03:56] mrruben51@hotmail.com: What?
[03:56] mrruben51@hotmail.com: You dont like Darth Kro Sover?
[03:56] Buss: i don't think he has quite figured out the main bad guy though.
[04:00] mrruben51@hotmail.com: Darth Kro Sover holds the power of cheese and is master of the force. He lets the worm in him speak in bad puns. I just hope he doesnt have to face Kosh Summers, "Into each generation a Jedi is born. One Vorlon in all the world, a Chosen One. One born with the strength and skill to fight the shadow sith, to stop the spread of their evil and the swell of their numbers."
[04:01] Buss: the hell?
[04:01] mrruben51@hotmail.com: What?
[04:01] Buss: O_O

Blowing one mind at a time.

Crap I should have worked Exalted in there also... what sort of fan am I anyhow?

Babylon 5; The Memory of Shadows

Source: Production Weekly December 8, 2004

Steven Beck will direct a big screen adaptation of the popular sci-fi TV series Babylon 5. The movie, titled The Memory of Shadows, is intended for theatrical release and was written by series creator J. Michael Straczynski. Production Weekly reports that the project starts filming this April in the UK.

In "Shadows," the technology of the ancient and extinct Shadow race is being unleashed upon the galaxy by an unknown force, and Earthforce intelligence officer Diane Baker, whose brother was recently killed in a mysterious explosion, it out to find out who is behind the intergalactic conspiracy.

Joining her is Galen, a techno-mage who has been charged with keeping the technology out of the hands of those who would abuse it.

I have heard it all now!

1. Why I cancelled my WoW account | 12/28/2004 6:51:57 PM PST

I recently cancelled my account on WoW, largely because of the violation of my right to privacy that is a built-in feature of the game. I expect that I'm in the minority in even thinking about this, but privacy rights are very important to me and I am unwilling to compromise them.

The "add friends" option allows any player in the game to trivially monitor the comings and goings of any other player. I enjoy meeting other players in the game, but I've played long enough now that when I log in about 30 people send messages saying hello. This is disturbing -- before I've even had a chance to sit down at my desk, everyone and their brother knows exactly what I'm doing in real life.

Blizzard provides a "do not disturb" flag that absolutely misses the essential point. It's irritating to be deluged with messages from friends, but they are after all friends and I can just ask them to leave me in peace. The greater point is that people I don't even know can monitor when I play the game. Indeed, they can monitor exactly where I go in the virtual world using the /who command! Going /dnd doesn't change any of that one bit.

I have a job, a family, and other obligations. I like to take a little time to play Warcraft, but I am quite sure that a lot of people would prefer I were attending to their needs rather than play a computer game. As long as those people can track my use of the game so easily, it just doesn't make sense for me to continue my subscription. I'll go back to reading quietly in real life cafes, where at least my privacy is under my own control.

This is beyond paranoid! I don't know what is going on in this persons life that has them afraid that someone might see them log on... but it doesn't make me unhappy that this weirdo is leaving.

On and if you read this Enyetami... I am watching you!

‘Law & Order’ star Jerry Orbach dies

MSNBC Article

Wow, this really sucks. I have watch Jerry Orbach for YEARS on Law and Order. Chances are so have you. I always liked him and I think he was part of what made that show so good. He really brought Detective Lennie Briscoe to life.

Cat Scan Results!

Well I got the results of my cat scan back… and they have confirmed… I am not a cat. Which is a big relief to me.

More seriously, the results did not show anything abnormal in them so I do not have anything to worry about there. The Doctor still doesn’t know 100% what the cause of that was but he thinks it might have something viral. He let me go back on the meds I was on before and told me to take a baby aspirin every day. If it comes back I will have to go back to the Doctor and he said he would send me to a neurologist.

Numb to the pain

Argh! I am numb in the lips and arm again today. Not totally numb, but numb enough for concern. I find out what the Cat Scan meant on the 28th. This is the first bad day I have had since I last saw the doctor. Since I saw him it hasn’t been bad or really all that noticeable.

(P.S. Its snowing out... lots and lots of snow is supposed to fall in the next day or so. Hmm I should get some weight for the back of my truck... ahh things to do. )

The Epic Adventures of - Ceciliantas:

So yesterday one of my buddies sends me a link. He said is was a funny/messed up story about some EQ2 guy cybering. So I went to the EQ2 Permafrost Rant boards and DAMN was it funny. Not because the guy was totally busted having cyber sex in the game but because of how he tried to deny it over and over. Any how there is a surprise ending but I don't want to spoil it for you...

There is however a condensed version of it here: The Epic Adventures of - Ceciliantas

Enjoy

Gollum on the couch.

You may have thought that Gollum was merely corrupted by the ring, but Thirty students at University College London have found that he is just another homeless schizo.

Big Update

I have not written anything too personal on here for some time. So this is the “What the hell is Ryan up to post”.

First off we are still selling our condo. Our first agent didn’t sell our place and he didn’t want a second chance. At this point I am glad we went with someone new. I like this new agent much better and I think he will do a better job at selling the condo. [links to condo pics]

In case you missed it, we are selling the condo because we are building a new house . As of my writing this they have not dug the basement out yet. However this doesn’t really bother me since we still have the sale of the condo hanging over our heads. If they are dragging their feet at this point that is fine with me. [link to home site]

I am currently addicted to playing the online video game World of Warcraft. Its like EQ in that its online and multiplayer, only this one is fun. My main character is Vicili a Warlock Gnome. I am having a good time with it and I can see myself playing this for some time to come. [SB and wow links]

A few months back I got switched to a new department here at work, at first I wassn’t thrilled but now I have to say that I really like the change. My new title is F&I Analyst. It sounds cool but basically its phone support for dealerships that are having issues with their financing. The job it made more challenging and interesting because this part of the company is still using old ass software to write out trouble tickets. It’s interesting, but it’s still the bottom rung of the call center.

Lastly, I have some health issues doing on that have my doctor stumped after a single visit. Over the last few weeks I have woke up a few times and my arms, legs and face will feel asleep. They tingle and feel numb but it went away shortly after waking. However Tuesday night/Wednesday morning I woke in the middle of the night and my arm and lower face were asleep. I tried to shake it off but it wouldn’t change. I also had some back pain, although I think this was more about intestinal issues I was having at that time. Anyhow when I woke in the morning my arm and face were still asleep. Also I have has a spell or two where I was dizzy. Needless to say I was frightened.

So I went to the Doctor. My Doc is stumped, at least for now. I am going for a CAT scan. Maybe after they check out my brain they will have a better clue to what’s going on. Honestly I don’t mind the scanning and the tests, take my blood and microwave my head, I don’t care. I am however not looking forward to a spinal tap. That’s the one thing that I really do not want.

As for what I think it is, well maybe it’s a side effect of some medication I was on. That’s the one I am hoping for. The one I am not hoping for is MS. And one other possibility that I had not thought of until a friend so helpfully brought it up… maybe it’s a tumor that’s putting pressure on a nerve. As you can tell the possibilities are all so cheery.

Sad Serb axes penis, then regrets decision

Mr. Sad Serb just needed a wake up call it seems... or maybe some prozac. I have been plenty depressed before and not once did I think the only way out was chopping off my dick. Maybe its a Serbian thing...

Either way I am glad he came to his senses. Although now he probably made his already depressing life worse because now he is also ill.

Star Trek Online

Star Trek Online looks like it is joining the online gaming market. Somehow I feel it is going to go into this with a Red Shirt on. We shall see.

Pantera attacked on stage.

Last night I was playing around on the computer and I heard a rather emotional announcement from the local radio DJ. There has been a shooting at a Columbus Concert and a member of Pantera is dead.

Death is always a horrid thing, and when it is forced like this, doubly so. However with "Dimebag" Darrell Abbott's death in a public setting like that, I think its going to have a ripple effect that further locks down security in many aspects of our lives.

4 other also lost their lives in this shooting last night, although those names have not yet been released to the public.
