Gencon 2004 Report

Gencon 2004 Pics

This convention was completely different for me this year. It was very interesting to work during the convention instead of playing the whole time. However I found getting to play (run) Exalted, even in demos all day to be fairly rewarding. The demos were supposed to only run a half hour, however that didnt really happen. Every demo went to at least 45 minutes to an hour. Not a big change... but it made for some hectic times.

My apologies to Steve of the Rackham demo team. Sorry bud that we never got to get you that demo. Although since you already play Exalted, it shouldnt be a stretch for you to use the mini's. Thanks for the tee shirt.

I got play in a 7 hour game of Warzone. Great game but it lasted until 3:30 am. Way too late!

The Vampire release party was pretty fun. I thought since I was working in the booth that I might be able to get into the VIP area... but once there I didnt even try to talk my way in. I didnt want to assume to much. Anyhow I kept looking for my buddy Tim, but never saw him there. Well the next day I found out the reason I never saw him there was because he was in the VIP area. He just BS'd his way in, no real connection to WW just pure BS from him. Sheesh. :D

I got to watch most of the Inu Yasha 2 movie. Looked good but I didnt see it all because I had to go to that Warzone game.

I got to talk to Brad Elliott when he visited the WW booth on Saturday. He was a really nice guy and just talked to me like a normal person. He invited me to do a demo of Weapons of the Gods with him on sunday and I took him up on it.

Looks like a great game! And although we only got 2 rounds of combat in, the system seemed really solid.

I knew we wouldnt get to finish the combat so I tried to go as big as I could. I smacked the thugs in front of me out of the way, run up a pillar and across the underside of a beem until I was right over top of Little River. Then I launched myself downward onto the head of Little River, trying to run him through top to bottom. I think I ended up doing 25 damage to him.

It was all very cool.

The copy of the book that Brad Elliott had printed out... blew me away. I am looking forward to the release of this.

Brian showed me the cover art for the Fair Folk book. It looks amazing. Zub and the boys did a great job on it. I cant wait to see it in print. The sample I saw looked great so this cover may end up being my favorite one yet.

The cover girl looked like a feral angel. The lighting on her was great. The coloring on the cover was great. It used the colors of the rainbow... and while that may sound alittle too fairy tale... and it did give it a very magical feel to it... it was not out of place at all.

I also saw some art that will be used for the card game. All I can remember is that it looked good. I cant remember if I saw any of the art from the inside of that book or not. Sorry gang. I want to say that I saw a bit from Melissa, but I dont think thats right.

I have been reading the Fire book all week. So far its great. I love the Nellens character, I think he is going to show up in game soon. The Head Cathak is very nice also. I have noticed a few typos, but the writing is solid, and I am really enjoying the book so far.
